The Chevrolet HHR is a compact retro styled station wagon model produced by Chevrolet, a subsidiary of General Motors.
It was first introduced at Los Angeles Auto Show in 2005 as 2006 vehicle.
The acronym HHR refers to Heritage High Roof.
It was designed by Bryan Nesbitt.
It shares its basic design with Saturn Ion, Pontiac G5, Saturn Astra and Cobalt models.
First Generation (2006-Present)
The first generation Chevy HHR is designed and produced based on the platform of GM Delta. It won the Golden Icon Award for best SUV in 2006 and it again won the same award in 2007. The predecessor model to the compact car is Chevrolet Zafira compact MPV.
The 4-door SUV model is powered by standard 2.2 liter Ecotec I-4 engine, while it also offers 2.4 liter Ecotec I-4 and 2.0 liter turbo charged Ecotec I-4 version as optional. The available transmissions include 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic.
As far as the exterior dimensions of HHR model are concerned, it has the wheel base of 104 inches, length of 176.2 inches, width of 69.1 inches and height of 63.2 inches. It is related to Saturn Astra, Cobalt and Pontiac G5 models.
The current generation Chevy HHR model is offered in three trim versions, the base model LS, mid-level LT and high performance SS. The standard features on all the models include wireless cell phone link, curtain side air bags, and navigation system. Major competitors to the model include Mazda 3, Hyundai Elantra and Nissan Versa.
